Rise Sports
I first began so called "Editing" about 5 years ago, when I was 11. I was just making fun little things for myself, like wallpapers, about the Jazz or the Cowboys, my favorite teams, just for fun, on things like Microsoft Paint. It wasn't until around 2013 when I first began making (sort of) things like I make today. I found a site, where I could try my skills, and have fun while doing so, called "SportsCoversWorld.proboards.com", and the people on this website were amazing, and a ton of help. I made plenty of covers for games like Madden 25, NBA 2k14, and Fifa 14, which was only giving me a start. Back then I was using GIMP, although I got plenty of crap for it from the other forum users, I think it worked fine for the most part. One day, on there, I heard about a new craze on Facebook called "BeyondTheBuzzer"
I saw an opportunity there, so I decided to try out making something like theirs by downloading a couple of apps. I was TERRIBLE. Haha, unfortunately that's how it was for the first couple of weeks, but I began to get the hang of it. About a month or 2 in, I came home one day to find out that my account was hacked, and I couldn't get it back. I had grown to about 500 followers by then, and I was devastated. This had become my pride, and joy. I jumped right back on making a new account, now named @Rise_Sports. It was the beginning of a new era. Soon I began to catch wind, as I racked up 200 followers quick, from some good friends giving me shoutouts. I gained steam, as I began to learn how to use these same apps in new ways, I became "famous" for my all-app jersey swaps, and everything was going great, as I had gained about 700 followers before I lost it. I just stopped editing. For about 3 to 4 months, I didn't post one thing, and I got comments like "I wish you would come back", and "I miss your edits!" Soon, I decided to finally come back. For the first time in a couple months, I posted a picture, which simply said "The Legend of Rise has only begun." Finally, I was back. I continued on for a while, posting a fair amount, but nowhere near how often I posted before. A couple months later, in around June of 2014 I tried something new, and downloaded the trial of Photoshop. I learned some very basic fundamentals, and posted my first "Software" edit. I still would only post these basic, simple edits, but I was learning. The things I learned in the next few months, and the people I've met, has made my experience incredible. With the help of @JerseySwap, @LL1Designs, and many more buddies of mine, I grew a ton to about 4.6 thousand followers. I learned how to do many more complex designs, and the love that I got was overwhelming. Soon I tried my first illustration. It was just an illustration of Gordon Hayward's head, but it turned out very well, and with practice, I've become much better at these illustrations as well, and only look towards improvement. Now, looking back at my many experiences, I am very very thankful for my opportunities as an editor, and to have made so many new friends through this. Here's to many more good years! |
